Sin embargo, la causa m\u00e1s com\u00fan de faringitis aguda sigue siendo viral y no requiere tratamiento con antibi\u00f3ticos.<\/p><br><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El GAS afecta solo del 20 al 30% de las faringitis en ni\u00f1os y del 5 al 15% en adultos, pero el tratamiento antibi\u00f3tico es fundamental para evitar muchas complicaciones invasivas e inmunopatol\u00f3gicas. La decisi\u00f3n de este tratamiento muchas veces debe tomarse en consulta o en urgencias. Se han descubierto varias formas cl\u00ednicas, pero a menudo es imposible distinguir la etiolog\u00eda estreptoc\u00f3cica solo por aspectos cl\u00ednicos.<\/p><br><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Por ello, se han desarrollado algoritmos diagn\u00f3sticos que implican pruebas que se pueden realizar durante la consulta o que confirman la decisi\u00f3n del prescriptor lo m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido posible: pruebas antig\u00e9nicas, pruebas moleculares y cultivo en agar sangre, siendo la historia el Gold Standard. Solo en cultivo se puede realizar un antibiograma y seguimiento epidemiol\u00f3gico de las cepas.<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"vce-text-block performance-detail\"><div class=\"vce-text-block-wrapper vce\" id=\"el-578b6bb8\" data-vce-do-apply=\"all el-578b6bb8\"><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Aplicaci\u00f3n<\/b><\/p><br><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">CHROMagar\u2122 StrepA es un medio de cultivo cromog\u00e9nico selectivo destinado a la detecci\u00f3n cualitativa directa, la diferenciaci\u00f3n y la identificaci\u00f3n presuntiva de <i>Streptococcus pyogenes<\/i> - Estreptococo del grupo A (EGA) para ayudar en el diagn\u00f3stico de las infecciones de garganta por EGA. La prueba se realiza en muestras de frotis de garganta. Los resultados pueden interpretarse tras 18-24 horas de incubaci\u00f3n a 35-37 \u00b0C en atm\u00f3sfera de CO<sub>2<\/sub>.<\/p><br><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Es necesario realizar cultivos concomitantes para recuperar los organismos para realizar m\u00e1s pruebas microbiol\u00f3gicas o una tipificaci\u00f3n epidemiol\u00f3gica. La falta de crecimiento o la ausencia de colonias en CHROMagar\u2122 StrepA no excluye la presencia de EGA.
