Graduated from the \u00c9cole Polytechnique, Dr. Alain Rambach joined the Institut Pasteur in 1967 where he worked with Professor Fran\u00e7ois Jacob, Nobel Prize winner in physiology and medicine. <\/span><\/p>

He defended his thesis in bacterial genetics and then broached the very controversial subject of DNA manipulation as a pioneer.<\/span><\/p>

After a post-doctorate at Stanford University in California, he returned to the Institut Pasteur in 1976 to continue his research in the field of genetic engineering.<\/span><\/p>

In 1978, in a laboratory near the Institut Pasteur, he met Dr. Jean Buissi\u00e8re, who specializes in the medical diagnosis of infections. <\/span><\/p>

It was Dr. Buissi\u00e8re who taught Dr. Rambach the fundamental idea that by characterizing the enzymatic equipment of a bacterium by tests in tubes or wells, it is possible to deduce the identification.<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
