CHROMagar was founded by Dr. Alain Rambach, an internationally recognized microbiologist and pioneer in the field of chromogenic media for the detection of pathogenic microorganisms. Engaged in genetic engineering research as early as 1974, he developed the first E.coli chromogenic detection media, filing the patent in 1979. Several years later, he invented the Rambach Agar for the detection of Salmonella, now distributed world-wide by one of the world's major pharmaceutical groups. These successes led to the creation of the firm CHROMagar. Front runner in the area of innovative media, CHROMagar's mission is to develop and commercialize the products of Dr. Rambach's current research - new first generation chromogenic media and second generation (multicolor) chromogenic media. The current CHROMagar product line includes CHROMagar Candida, CHROMagar Orientation, Rambach Agar, CHROMagar Salmonella & CHROMagar Salmonella Plus , CHROMagar Staph aureus, CHROMagar MRSA, CHROMagar VRE, CHROMagar O157, CHROMagar E.coli, CHROMagar ECC (E.coli-coliform),CHROMagar Listeria and CHROMagar Vibrio. With its headquarters and laboratory located in Paris near the Pasteur Institute, CHROMagar is currently developing an international sales and distribution network. Becton Dickinson Announcement: BD USA announced the conclusion of a Worldwide Licensing agreement for the technology transfer of chromogenic media. The agreement enables expected further development of chromogenic applications in microbiology. This agreement brings together CHROMagar's technology with BD's capability to serve both Clinical and Industrial microbiologists. Chromogenic media provides value to the microbiologist in providing more information on bacterial isolates through the differential coloring of different bacterial species, thus saving time and money in the laboratory. |
